Trudi Rondou, Senior Manager, WorkSafeBC




Trudi Rondou is a senior manager in industry and labour services at WorkSafeBC.  She's spent the last decade working with numerous industry and labour groups to reduce workplace injuries and improve return to work outcomes.  Over the last three years, Trudi's focus has expanded to include workplace mental health.  She currently serves as Chair of the BC First Responders Mental Health Committee, Trudi speaks at conferences and gatherings around the province on new and young worker safety, health and safety management systems, and promoting positive mental health in the workplace.


DCF Bruce Ferguson, Township if Langley Fire Department



Bruce Ferguson is a Deputy Fire Chief with the Township of Langley Fire Department.  He has been with the Township of Langley Fire department since January 1982 beginning as a Paid-call firefighter working his way through the ranks. He is responsible for Operations of the Fire Department.  The Township of Langley is 328 square kilometers and is combined agriculture/suburban.  They are dubbed the Horse Capital of British Columbia due to the large equestrian population.  They respond to approximately 6000 calls for service annually.  Away from the Fire department he married with two daughters, one grandson and two granddaughters.  His hobbies include camping fishing and music.  He playa accordion, saxophone and his favorite bass guitar.  He has served 8 years with the Fire Chiefs Association of British Columbia in several capacities and been involved with the WorksafeBC Mental Health First Responders Steering committee for the past 3 years.


Webinar Synopsis:

As more baby boomers retire, this sizable generation will become an increasingly vital segment of Fire and EMS service.  What motivates them at work? What are their career goals? What do younger workers expect from their employer? What makes this generation different from previous generations?  Why aren’t they responding to traditional management systems?
