On behalf of the Nominations, Resolutions and Bylaws Committee of the CAFC, we are pleased to provide you with an update on the status of e-voting which will be introduced for the September 2019 board member elections. We would like to inform you about the process we have planned and invite any comments at this time.

  • The purpose of e-voting is to allow all eligible CAFC members in good standing to vote - whether or not they are able to attend Fire Rescue Canada.

  • From June 14 and until July 12, we will release the Call for Nominations that will look very much like the call for nominations used in 2017 and 2018. It will include a “meet me profile/slide deck” which candidates must complete. The call will be sent to you by email and the form will be available for you to download from a dedicated webpage.

  • 21 days before the election date at Fire Rescue Canada, the webpage with nominees profiles will be posted for all members to view on a members-only page.

  • Between August 6 and August 30th, the CAFC will record a webinar with the candidates. Each candidate will have a five-minute opportunity to provide recorded remarks. Questions can be sent to the candidates via The candidates will provide written responses to the questions.
  • Between September 5 and 12th, e-voting will proceed. Each member will receive an email with a link. The link will lead to an anonymous ballot that can only be completed through the email, but not if the email is forwarded. The ballot response is detached from the email so that it is completely anonymous and can only be completed/submitted once by the unique member. Each member will select the preferred 3 candidates for the three two-year term positions that will come for election/re-election. The data from the ballots will go directly to a dedicated and secured Survey Monkey page available to CAFC Legal Counsel, the Committee, and to the Scrutineers.
  • During the Annual General Meeting on Monday September 16, 2019, which will also be run by live webinar, we will announce the results of the e-vote and send a notification to all CAFC members about the results. The candidates will be sworn in at the Gala.
