About the Blue Book

On behalf the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, Canadian Emergency Responders Robotics Association and Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada, we are delighted to present two Blue Books: (1) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Program Guide and (2): Beyond Visual Line of Sight Remotely Piloted Aircraft Program Guide.

Blue Book I is a guide for developing an RPAS program in fire or search and rescue organizations and is designed to be relevant to both fire departments and search and rescue organizations for search, rescue, all hazard, emergency operations and fire suppression.

Blue Book II serves as a guide to Fire Departments and  Search and Rescue Organizations in the fundamentals of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) RPAS operations, permission applications and management at the level of the organization to enable them to understand the complexities of BVLOS authorization and safe integration into regular operations.

As part of the launch, the CAFC, in partnership with CASARA and SARVAC, hosted a RPAS Committee webinar for those who wanted to learn more about these valuable resources and answered any questions.
