The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) is pleased to present a draft guideline entitled "A Best Practice Guideline for Fire Departments Working with Private-for-Profit Companies in the Wildland Urban Interface".

Recognizing the variation in the quality of services being offered by private-for-profit companies being engaged by various parties in wildfires, the CAFC Climate Committee developed a guideline describing best practices for the use and/or consideration of private companies.

The guideline should not be interpreted as a statement for or against the use of private for profit companies in the fire service. 

The draft guideline is available on a pilot basis to facilitate the conversation between private companies and fire departments. Members may use it recognizing it has not been tested.
