CAFC's Remarks at the Standing Committee of Indigenous Northern Affairs

 

In June 2022, the CAFC was invited to appear before the Standing Committee of Indigenous Northern Affairs in the House of Commons. You can read CAFC’s remarks and watch the televised meeting here. Chief McKearney and Dr. Saryeddine’s remarks focused on the need for enhanced fire and emergency considerations given Canada’s Arctic and northern policy network and the First Nation fire protection strategy which has 6 areas of focus within six focus areas: 1. Partnership with First Nations Leadership in Fire Protection; 2. Fire Prevention Education; 3. Community Standards; 4. Fire Service Operational Standards; 5. Climate Change; 6. Critical Infrastructure

Indigenous Fire Marshalls Office (IFMO)

  

 For the past several years, the CAFC has had the privilege of working with AFAC on the Indigenous Fire Marshalls office and included the formation of IFMO in its advocacy activities and maintains a seat at the IFMO planning table.

In 2019, the CAFC was delighted to see IFMO stood up.
