E-voting process 2022

Veuillez appuyer ici pour la version en français.

On behalf of the Nominations, Resolutions and Bylaws Committee of the CAFC, we are pleased to launch the e-voting process for 2022 that will be used for the election board members per our bylaws.

First, we would like to remind you that Fire Rescue Canada 2022 is expected to be in person this year. Keep an eye out on your email for more information.

As part of the AGM, per our bylaws, we will ensure that the voting process is complete and we are well positioned to do so because of the e-voting system we developed previously.

It is now our pleasure to describe the process for 2022.

The call for nominations will be electronic. If there are more nominations than positions we will have an e-voting process. If there are not, we will consider the candidates standing elected.

Timeline for 2022 CAFC Board and President Election Process:

(1) Between April 29 and June 20, we will release one Call for Nominations for President and Board Members that will look very much like the call for nominations used in previous years. It will include a “meet me profile/slide deck” which candidates must complete. The call will be sent to you by email and the form will be available for you to download from a dedicated webpage.

(2) On July 29, which is more than twenty-one (21) days before the election date of September 1, the webpage with nominees profiles will be posted for all members to view on a members-only page.

(3) Between June 20 and July 15 each candidate will have a five-minute opportunity to provide recorded remarks which will be posted on the webpage. Questions can then be sent to the candidates via atherrien@cafc.ca until August 15, 2022. The candidates will provide written responses to the questions by August 31, 2022.

(4) Between September 1 and 9, e-voting will proceed. Each member will receive an email with a link. The link will lead to an anonymous ballot that can only be completed once.

  • The ballot response is detached from the email so that it is completely anonymous and can only be completed/submitted once by the unique member.
  • Each member will select the preferred 3 candidates for the three two-year term member-at-large, and their preferred candidate for the one two-year President position.
  • The data from the ballots will go directly to a dedicated and secured page available to CAFC Legal Counsel, the Committee, and to the Scrutineers.

The Annual General Meeting will be a live event taking place on between September 13 and 15, 2022, which will take place in person in Ottawa. We will swear the candidates in during the meeting.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter for our national association. We look forward to advancing the process with you.
