2024.1 Extending CIFFC Wildfire Protection Coverage

Preamble
2024.1.1 90% of all fire departments are involved in wildland firefighting.
2024.1.2 Some municipal fire departments do not receive provincial wildland firefighting assistance.
2024.1.3 The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs is on the record with the need for a national fire administration to represent and coordinate the needs of municipal fire departments nationally.
2024.1.4 CIFFC coordinates the deployment of interprovincial wildfire resources
2024.1.5 The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs recognizes the need for a national approach to address the training needs of all first responders that is fair, equitable, and coordinated with fire departments.
Recommendation
2024.1.6 That the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs create a subcommittee of fire departments who do not receive provincial wildland firefighting support and request standing at the CIFFC table.
This resolution is enacted to address the pressing need for enhanced interoperable wildland firefighter training and access to curriculum development programs, recognizing it as a critical issue for all first responders engaged in wildfire response efforts nationwide.
