Request to Participate in CSA Survey for First Responders: Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Competency and Training Needs of Hydrogen Emergency Responders

CAFC Members are invited to participate in this survey provided by Transitional Solutions in partnership with the Canadian Standards Association requesting information on the needs of hydrogen emergency responders. Transitional Solutions Inc. (TSI) is excited to work with the CSA to complete the research for hydrogen emergency responders' competency and training needs. Responders include police, EMS, firefighters and tow operators.

Below is the survey information and link with the new deadline added:

The primary purpose of this project is to support future standard development via:

  1. Understanding the risks of hydrogen important for emergency personnel who deal with incidents involving hydrogen storage, transportation, and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
  2. Exploring ways to address response to hydrogen-related incidents effectively.
  3. Identifying safe handling practices and current gaps in the training of emergency personnel.
  4. Provide recommendations to inform the CSA in developing Standards specific to first responders’ competency and training needs concerning hydrogen emergencies.

As part of this project, we invite you to participate in a survey as part of TSI’s research for the collaborative development of the hydrogen safety standards specific to first responders. The survey is open to all first responders as well as those involved in the infrastructure and shipping of hydrogen fuel, including commercial refuelling stations and vehicle manufacturers.

Survey closes April 21, 2025.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this voluntary opportunity to positively impact the future direction of the safety standards for first responders

Thank you for your support in this process.
