There are approximately 89,000 volunteer firefighters in Canada who risk their lives everyday to Answer the Call and keep their communities safe. Volunteer firefighters are members of the community who have other occupations alongside their firefighting. They are nurses, waiters, construction workers, doctors, teachers, retirees, and more. They volunteer their time to answer the call when it comes in so that their friends, neighbours and fellow citizens remain safe.
