Building out the Firefighter Cancer Awareness, Prevention, and Access to Care Puzzle

December 7 - 8, 2023

Workshop Recordings

Bill C-224, A National Framework on Cancers Linked to Firefighting received royal assent on June 22, 2023. The Bill’s enactment provides for the development of a national framework designed to raise awareness of cancers linked to firefighting with the goal of improving access for firefighters to cancer prevention and treatment.

The Minister of Health is now tasked with developing a framework for firefighter cancer that is to be delivered in Parliament in 2024. To support this Framework, Health Canada launched an engagement process with various stakeholders to inform the development of a National Framework.

To help inform this framework and share knowledge, members of the fire service and policy leaders were invited to partake in one or more of this series of 5 virtual workshops. The sessions were recorded and are available for viewing below (click on the titles to view).
