Leah’s been a passionate and dedicated firefighter for the past 30 years. Leah started her firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter for a structural fire department then transitioned into aviation firefighting. Leah was diagnosed with bladder cancer 4 years ago at the age of 46 and has become an advocate for firefighter cancer in Manitoba.  Leah has mentored other firefighters with cancer through the firefighter cancer support network. Leah was a validation committee member for the IFSTA ARFF 7th edition textbook and has added cancer content into the textbook. I hope we have more open honest dialogue with in the fire service. As the saying goes….lets leave this job better then we found it.
