CAFC National Advisory Council

About the CAFC National Advisory Council

The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) represents the country’s 3200 departments either through individual members or through the National Advisory Council (NAC) member organizations, which include all provincial and territorial fire chief related organizations and the relevant national affiliate organizations. The NAC is required per the CAFC bylaws.

The NAC, as it affectionately known, meets for two hours every month, along with CAFC board members to ensure that the views of the fire sector are coordinated and that when required, CAFC can provide credible, informed, inclusive, and robust advice on nationally or federally relevant issues and approaches.

Please note that the CAFC is NOT a formally federated model, but the national office relies heavily on the provinces, territories and nationally affiliate organizations, as well as on individual members, to help advise the CAFC Board, committees, and staff on its direction.
