For the past four years, the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) has hosted a Fire Researcher of the Year award. All researchers who have submitted a profile for the Fire Research Roster (FR2) are entered in the competition, and all members of the CAFC are invited to submit a vote.

We would like to invite all researchers who are conducting research in any areas relevant to the fire service that aren’t already part of the FR2, to submit their profile. For those that are already in the Roster, you are invited to update your profile. All profiles must be submitted by June 16, 2023.

All researchers in the Roster will be featured in a future edition of our Magazine, which is distribute to all our members across the country. You can view past editions of the magazine here.

Completing a profile takes about 5 minutes. Independent researchers, post docs, and graduate students are all welcomed and encouraged to partake.

CAFC Fire Research Roster

As part of the CAFC’s focus on evidence-based policy decisions, we have launched the Fire Research Roster (FR2) as a means of connecting Canada’s fire service leaders with the research community.  

The FR2 provides the following benefits:

  Our members will have access to search the FR2 electronic database for free from anywhere at anytime so they can connect with researchers working on topics that are relevant to them.	You’ll benefit from increase visibility, encouragement, access to more partnership opportunities and engagement that come with a connection to the CAFC members. You will also be entered in the competition for CAFC's Fire Researcher of the Year.	If you’re not yet a member of the CAFC, FR2 is another reason why you should join the CAFC now.
