Chief (Retired) John Fredericks, City of Yellowknife Fire Division, NWT About: John Fredericks is the Former Dire Chief of the City of Yellowknife. in August 2020, he was diagnosed with Central Nervous System Lymphoma (brain cancer). He was given a 20% to 30% chance of survival, but with extensive chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant he has been in remission for 2.5 years. As being in the fire service for 33 years, it was deemed an occupational hazard. |
