Mary Fisher has been a member of the Calgary Fire Department for 22 years, currently serving the citizens of Calgary in the rank of Captain. In 2021 she was diagnosed with a rare form of Central Nervous System Cancer resulting in an incomplete spinal cord injury.  She is currently working towards recovering strength, mobility and sensory function in both legs with the goal of returning to the fire service in early 2024.  She is active in mental health advocacy in peer support and resiliency training, firefighter cancer prevention, equity initiatives and leadership development within Local 255 and Calgary Fire and beyond.
