Shawn McKerry is an accomplished professional with a distinguished career spanning over two decades in the field of emergency services and municipal management. As of July 2022, he holds the position of Dean at the Emergency Training Centre, Lakeland College, where he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to shape the next generation of first responders.

Operational Highlights - Shawn McKerry has been at the forefront of managing critical incidents, demonstrating his leadership under challenging circumstances. Notable operational achievements include his role as Incident Commander for the 2013 Gainford train derailment, deployment as a group supervisor for the 2016 Horse River wildfires 2011 Lesser Slave Lake Wildfire. In 2023, Shawn McKerry is most proud of the opportunity to lead a team from Lakeland College of students and instructional staff to support the wildfire fight in Parkland County.

Passion and Commitment – Shawn McKerry is deeply passionate about nurturing exceptional firefighters and first responders. In his role as Dean, he has wielded his influence to promote inclusion and diversity within the field. Under his guidance, the Emergency Training Centre has already undergone a transformative journey, reflecting his commitment to excellence.

Shawn is an active member of the Canadian Fire Chief Association, where he serves on a couple committees, and is proud to a part of the great team with the North American Fire Training Directors.
