ECFO Aspire Program: Creating
pathways for professionals and serving as a succession planning tool for
departments
Company Officers who are interested in achieving their ECFO Aspire
designation may register for the program. The cost is $200.
What is the ECFO Aspire
program?
The ECFO Aspire program offers a professional designation
for aspiring leaders in the Fire Service. It allows Company Officers across the
country to demonstrate key competencies relevant to leadership in the fire
sector. Candidates will be supported by their ECFO assessors through their journey.
Why should I achieve the ECFO
Aspire?
The ECFO Aspire brings a lot of advantages to all those who
undertake the program:
- It allows you to certify your competency in 22
nationally recognized competencies,
- It supports you on your path to becoming a Chief
Fire Officer.
- It will provide you with advanced standing once
you become a Chief Fire Officer to complete your full ECFO designation.
- It allows for your competencies to be recognized
across provinces/territories and municipalities.
The program is designed for those not yet eligible for the
ECFO designation. Company Officers can get ahead by registering as an ECFO
Aspire and apply to the ECFO program with remaining competencies as they
are achieved.
I'm a Chief Officer, why
should I register my Company Officers?
The Fire Service leadership demographic is changing. There
is a new generation of leaders joining fire departments across Canada. Now is
the time for action, to prepare for the future and start your succession
planning. This program allows Chief Officers the ability to assess developing
leaders that you are welcoming into your team.
What is at the heart of the
program?
The heart of the program consists of a number of
competencies within seven important themes related to management within the
fire service:
- Leadership
- Human Resources
- Governance
- Business Acumen
- Finance
- Fire Prevention
- Fire Technical
The program recognizes the diversity in backgrounds for
Company Officers across Canada. It is accessible for officers from all fire
departments across the country, big or small, volunteer or composite.
