CAFC pleased to partner on a new research project funded by the Canadian Cancer Society and the CIHR

At the CAFC, a new Cancer Committee was started in 2022 to help further address this issue for all firefighters and department types.

The CAFC is also collaborating on a new research project focusing on volunteer firefighters, aimed at understanding what the research says about cancer prevention behaviours, whether these are understood and communicated to firefighters, whether and why these are actioned or not; and what the barriers might be.

The research is funded by the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. It runs out of the IWK Health Centre. It is in its early stages. Check the project page frequently for more information.

À l'ACCP, un nouveau comité sur le cancer a été mis sur pied en 2022 pour aider à mieux aborder cette question pour tous les pompiers et tous les types de service. 

Dans le cadre des travaux de ce comité, un projet de recherche axé sur les pompiers volontaires vise à comprendre ce que dit la recherche sur les comportements de prévention du cancer, si ces comportements sont compris et communiqués aux pompiers, si et pourquoi ils sont mis en œuvre ou non, et quels peuvent être les obstacles.
 
La recherche est financée par la Société canadienne du cancer et les Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada. Il fonctionne à partir du centre de santé IWK. Elle en est à ses débuts. Consultez fréquemment la page du projet pour plus d'informations.
