Bill C-224, A National Framework on Cancers Linked to Firefighting

On June 22, 2023, Bill C-224: An Act to establish a national framework for the prevention and treatment of firefighter cancers received royal ascent. This bill provides for the development of a national framework designed to raise awareness of cancers linked to firefighting, with the goal of improving access for firefighters to cancer prevention and treatment. It also designates January as “Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month”.

On March 8, 2023 Bill C-224 passed with a unanimous vote in the House of Commons. CAFC thanks the House of Commons and MP Sherry Romanado for the unanimous vote on Bill C-224 'An Act to establish a national framework for the prevention and treatment of cancers linked to firefighting'.
